Juan Gris - Still Life with Guitar Necktie

Juan Gris was a Spanish painter recognized as one of the four major figures in the Cubist art movement of the early 1900s. He made his artistic debut in the 1912 Salon of Independent Artists with a painting that is considered one of the finest examples of Cubist portraiture. This piece by Gris was painted in Céret, a small town in the Pyrenees popular with artists like Picasso. It depicts a cubist style still life guitar using black, white, and gray tones to create a sense of depth.
